London driller K-Trap connects the streets to the airwaves this week on “Whistle”—a new solo drop heading up The Agenda. “I’m getting in my artist bag, trying new things and merging the two elements together,” he tells Apple Music of the track co-produced by Young Chencs, Dirty Dave, and Danesblood. “I feel like this is a happy song, it should definitely make you feel that way. It has a commercial sound to it but it’s still me, it’s still Trap.” The South Londoner has been one of British rap’s most recognized hitmakers for so long—since 2017 breakthrough hit “Paper Plans”—it’s easy to forget he started out hidden under a balaclava for almost two years. On second album SMILE?—a mocking reference to the MC’s changing reality from masked enigma to hot-commodity musician—Trapo reveals even more of himself for a stylish, 19-track trip of self-discovery with bright guest spots for Blade Brown, D-Block Europe, and Angel. “When you’re making an album, you need a song that really has an addictive sound, the one that catches your ear that’s always on the radio,” he says. “I feel like ‘Whistle’ is that song.” Elsewhere, you can also hear essential new music from Gunna, Nemzzz, and Central Cee & Lil Baby. Remember: The Agenda is always on the move, so if you hear something you like, add it to your library.
