Singer-songwriter Mimi Webb blazed a trail in the early 2020s with her hooky, pointed songs about love and its travails. Born in 2000 in Canterbury, England, she began writing her own songs at age 13, and three years later, she enrolled in Brighton Music College; at 18, she signed a record deal. Webb’s debut single, “Before I Go,” came out in April 2020, and it went viral thanks to an assist from TikTok star Charli D’Amelio. Webb’s chart breakthrough came with 2021’s “Good Without,” a bereft yet catchy breakup song that was the lead single from her EP Seven Shades of Heartbreak. She followed that up with more songs that combined pop polish with searing emotionalism, including the vengeful “House On Fire” and the confessional “Ghost of You.” Amelia, Webb’s first full-length, came out in early 2023.
