Shazam Encore works on Android devices from versions 1.6 of the Android OS up to and including the latest 2.2 OS.
Shazam requires a microphone to hear and Tag playing music
On your device open “Settings” then “About phone”. Toward the bottom of the page (you may have to scroll), it will list “Firmware Version” or “Android Version”.
Your Tag List will be retained when you update. However, please ensure that you don't delete the current version of Shazam before updating.
You’ll only lose your Tag List if you delete the free version of Shazam from your device. We’re constantly improving the Shazam service and aim to implement features to make it easy for users to import tags from Shazam to Shazam Encore.
Once you’ve upgraded to the premium version of our
application, your free application will automatically include unlimited
tagging and Recommendations.
Shazam 2.5 supports the following languages:
English, German, French, Spanish, Spanish (LATAM), Dutch, Czech, Polish, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Russian, Japanese and Korean.
Wherever possible we supply relevant content such as reviews and biographies. Where we don't have a localised version, we have chosen to give you the English content rather than nothing at all.
When you download Shazam 2.5 you will be given a 7 day free* trial of our premium App - Encore, with unlimited tagging and exclusive features. When your 7 day trial ends, you can continue using Shazam for free* with 5 Tags a month; or pay once for Shazam Encore and enjoy exclusive features including unlimited Tagging, Tag Chart, Recommendations and Pandora.
There are two versions of the application on Android Market.
*Standard operator data charges apply.
No. We've introduced a new feature in Shazam Encore that will import your Tags from Shazam on startup. The import should take about 5-10 seconds.
Once you've upgraded to Encore, your free application will automatically include unlimited tagging and Recommendations.
This is a limitation of Android Market/Google Checkout. Shazam on Android is built in London, United Kingdom and because we publish the App here, the price on the market is fixed in Pounds Sterling.
If you are not based in the UK, Google Checkout will show an
estimate of the local price which will be charged to your credit card
before you complete your purchase. The price will only be an estimate as
your credit card company may charge a small surcharge.
Shazam will continue to support its free application on tAndroid Market. We've always put our customers first and have had fantastic feedback from them on what they would like to see in Shazam. We built Shazam Encore so we could include many of the features that our fans have requested and from what our research tells us, our users are happy to pay a one-off fee for the extra features.
We’ve also not forgotten about our users from the early days, so if you’ve been using Shazam before 14th July 2010, you’ll still get unlimited tagging when you update to Shazam 2.5. This offer if limited to your current device.
Shazam Encore is a separate application and you don’t need to keep Shazam if you have upgraded, but you will lose any tags which you have made in Shazam. We’re working on a mechanism to import your Tag History from Shazam to Shazam Encore, so if that is of interest, we suggest you keep Shazam for now.
We carry out a lookup on YouTube and we get the best match. However, we rely on YouTube to maintain their content and ensure the appropriate videos appear with the right Tags.
You can link your Facebook or Twitter accounts to Shazam when you first choose to share your Tag details with your friends and followers. At this point, you will be presented with a Facebook Connect or Twitter OAuth where you can enter your login details. Once you’ve linked your social network accounts, you will not need to do it again.
You can disconnect your social networks from Shazam by going into Settings> Scroll down to Social and Logout of your Facebook or Twitter accounts.
The Facebook Connect SDK only works on Android OS 1.6 or higher. It is likely that you are Android 1.5 on your device. You might be able to upgrade to a newer version of Android through the manufacturer website.

To Tag a track Shazam will record and send data from your device and receive tag information and artwork which will normally total around 55KB of data. The audio recording is not stored permanently on the handset. The total amount of data you will download will be dependent on the number of times you view the page and what's displayed on the page. You'll use anything between 1KB and 30KB when you download an advert.
You can contact Shazam's Android Support here.
You can also follow Shazam on Twitter for music news and support issues.
Offline tagging is a feature on Shazam and Shazam Encore that allows you Tag even when you are out of data coverage. Shazam will store the Tag for you locally which you can then submit for identification when you're back in data coverage.

Once you've placed with Widget on the Home screen, selecting the Sshazam logo on the left will launch Shazam in listening mode. If you have Shazam Free and Shazam Encore installed on your device, the Shazam Widget will always treat Shazam Encore as your primary application.

Once you've successfully added a track from the Tag Stream, the icon will change to a tick icon. If you want to return to the Tag Stream, just tap on the track text.
You can remove the Shazam widgetWidget at anytime by pressing down on the widgetWidget and then dragging it to the "Bin" icon at the bottom of the home screen. This will remove the widgetWidget from your home screen.

Yes. Users who've downloaded and setup Shazam prior to 14th July 2010 can now keep their unlimited tagging status when switching to a new Android device. Note, users who purchase Shazam Encore can re-download Shazam Encore from the Android Market for free as long as they use the same Google account on their new device. To keep your unlimited tagging status, follow the steps below.
If our records indicate you were granted unlimited tagging on your old IMEI, we will transfer the same status over to your new device. Please note: your old device will be reverted back to limited user status.
