Miss Independent Miss Independent
Ne-Yo
No, it's not a Kelly Clarkson cover; it could be instead the masculine answer to Destiny's Child classic "Independent woman." The self-proclaimed gentleman of R&B winks again to the ladiez, this time praising women in charge of their lives. To maximize the impact, Ne-Yo gets all dressed to impress Keri Hilson in the video, and goes back to the kind smooth, mid-tempo grooves he feels more comfortable at; after the disco-flavoured hit "Closer" coped the airways during the summer. The same production team, Stargate, jumps in the Timbaland-led, 80's inspired wagon with a slick arrangement made from waves of keyboards, that constitutes "Miss Independent's" most appealing element. Jamie Foxx and Faboulous co-star in one of the remixes.
