Easy Listening/Latin jazz legend gets the Carlos Santana “rescue from oblivion” treatment –a comeback album sprinkled with a number of duets and collaborations featuring some of Today’s hottest stars, that is- in “Timeless”. Irritatingly ubiquitous Black eyed pea Will.I.Am took control of the venture with questionable success. This remake of bossanova classic and Mendes’ biggest hit “Mas Que Nada” adds a wishy-washy contemporary urban twist and serves to reaffirm our conviction that some songs should never be touched. However, not even a lousy cover can spoil the summery power of Brazilian music, coming just in time to celebrate the arrival of the sun.
