Ooh La

Love them or hate them, The Kooks have already sold over a million records with their debut album, spawning an impressive five hit singles. Even when most of their songs fall into the “pointlessly bland” category, there are a few standout tracks that belong to a different league: melodic, well-written pop-rock, carrying on an established British tradition, formerly seen in bands like Cast or The La’s. Luckily for all, “Ooh La” belongs to the later. It somehow brings us back one year in time, when “Eddie’s Gun” and “Sofa Song” nearly made us believe we were in the presence of something fresh and exciting.  shazam
