Decades ago, reviewers used the expression "blue eyed soul" to describe white singers like Robert Palmer, Daryl Hall, etc. trying to imitate the vibes and rhythms of their black counterparts. I wonder if nowadays we could talk about "blue eyed R&B" applied to people like Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke, a more mature vocalist from Beverly Hills, already a massive star in the States thanks to his falsetto voice and suave manners. "Lost without you", the first single from his second album "The Evolution of Robin Thicke" is set to become his passport to European success. A pleasant acoustic guitar and some smooth grooves elevate this adult ballad a notch above the rest.
