Another winner, originally the first single lifted from her multiple times re-issued comeback album, "Be Mine" could pass for a tribute to Madonna circa "True Blue": some cellos that proudly resemble the ones in "Papa Don’t Preach", the same crossover between dance and pop-rock, even its video sees the Swedish pop star copying the haircut Madge showed in her second album's cover while being in the company of a kid , which once caused the Michigan superstar many headaches in the clip for "Open Your Heart". Few singers today are capable to get anywhere near those levels of pop glory. Robyn also gets bonus points from a remarkable ability to write good lyrics; in this case, plagued with the sad melancholy of someone who realizes that the object of her affection is completely out of reach.

The Swedish star strikes again with one of the strongest moments in her self-titled back to life album. "Be Mine" somehow owns all the virtues of classic Madonna circa "True Blue", with some string arrangements that could have been used in "Papa Don't Preach". But although her influences are evident, unlike most of the pop tracks we can currently listen in Top 40 radio, this one is not totally derivative. Robyn displays again her fine ear for a memorable melody and superb lyrical skills. Still fresh the memories of "Every heart beat" becoming the surprise hit of the summer, this one is the track that can get her back to topping the charts.
