From Nirvana drummer to Foo Fighters leader, Dave Grohl is still going from strength to strength. A true survivor from the Nineties and considered one of the nicest person in the business, he’s been embraced by rock and roll establishment, while all his classmates are on their way out of the game. The Fighter’s endless ability to pen catchy anthemic songs has elevated the quartet to saviours of rock ‘n roll status, even when their brand of polished post-grunge has been showing signs of exhaustion for quite a while. “The Pretender”, probably the strongest moment on the band’s sixth album “Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace”, unfortunately sees no major departure from that niche, but it’s intense enough to become another crowd pleaser.
