When Jay-Z announced his artistic retirement after the disappointing "Kingdom Come", the news raised more incredulous eyebrows than 50 Cent similar claims before losing the battle against Kanye. It hasn't been long and unsurprisingly he's back, hooking up with blockbuster "American Gangster" for a sort of unofficial soundtrack. Jay-Z justifies this comeback as he felt inspired from some "obvious" connection between his life and Frank Lucas’. Acclaimed as a true return to form, the album benefits from sampling the late seventies' rich catalogue of soul and funky sounds as well as from an all-star cast of guests the rapper likes to surround himself with. In "Roc boys", its second hit, P.Diddy & The Hitman took the controls, whereas Beyonce, Cassie and West popped in for some backing vocals. A distinctively powerful horn section and a catchy chorus made it an obvious choice for a single.
