If Adele came up first in all the industry's polls as most promising new act for 2008, Duffy proudly stood as the runner-up. Her classy vocals sound modelled out of Dusty Springfield career's different phases: debut track "Rockferry" was a ballad with an epic Spector-esque feeling and this second single is spiked with poptastic influences of girl bands from the 60's and northern soul that will certainly open the doors of every radio station for this talented Welsh singer-songwriter. On the strength of these two songs, she should have topped the poll.  shazam
