London based producers The Count (Aka Hervé) & Sinden, along with their mentor Switch, have been spending the last four years forging their own mish-mash of bass driven house, garage, grime, ragga and hip hop the fruit of which is "Beeper", a raucous blend of rough edged electro and Chicago rap. Featuring vocals from Kid Sister, sometime collaborator of Kanye West, the track grabs the speaker busting bass from early UK garage and throws it together with dancehall bleeps and fidget house sampling of the line "Hit me on my beeper – beeper – beeper -errrrrrrr."
A favourite with DJ's such as Any Mac and Zane Lowe for sometime the record has surprisingly been picked up by Domino, home of The Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand, and looks set to be a formidable cross over hit. Alongside acts such as M.I.A., Wiley and Santogold The Count & Sinden are fast become ones to watch in a scene that is pulling together the best parts of disparate scenes to create an exciting mix of the urban and electronic worlds.
