Another crime perpetrated against a funk classic. The victim: Rick James’s irresistible “Superfreak”; a song so good that every now and then someone feels the need to recycle it –notably, in the nineties, it served to launch the career of funny-trousered religious rapper, MC Hammer. Remember “U Can’t touch this”?-. The culprit: producer-manufactured act Beatfreakz. This time, they were not happy with only sampling the original, as they did with first single “Somebody watching me”, and shamelessly went and attack the whole song in such a lame way that makes the former sounds good in comparison. One to avoid!!
