Having the whole record industry all excited, the London born and NY raised DJ sensation, whose credits include remixing Radiohead and revamping the career of Amy Winehouse, is poised for a big breakthrough with his second album "Versions". The bootlegs and promos already on circulation show Ronson covering recent hits (from Britney to Maximo Park, including a jazz instrumental take on Coldplay's God put a smile") in no style boundaries manner, helped by a constellation of pop stars (Lilly Allen, The late Ol' Dirty Bastard, Amy Winehouse returning the favour, etc.). Just for starters, he gets Aussie R&B singer Daniel Merriweather giving a soulful treatment to The Smiths' "Stop me if you've heard this one before", melting it into Motown classic "You Keep Me Hanging On" at the end. We can only wonder what will Morrissey have to say about it and how long will it take before Mark Ronson is described as the new Timbaland.
