Waiting for the tube can be the perfect situation for the modern songwriter to convey romantic stories and witty lyrics. It seems to have been the case for Jack Peñate in this sort of love letter to London that has just become his breakthrough track. Sounding like a single man version of The Housemartins, with some reggae touches thrown in the verses, which depending on your mood may or may not be a good idea; it doesn’t justify the glorifying hype that surrounds him, but it’s more than enough to separate the young south Londoner from the herds of bland singers still invading the planet.  shazam
