The title track of the siblings' -or was it lovers? - Sixth album, finds the Stripes in top form, following the Led Zeppelin legacy they had already embraced in some of their former work. As imaginatively arranged as usual, including trumpets, bagpipes and the most spectacular guitar riff we've heard in ages. The title alone is currently the subject of a thousand online debates trying to decipher its true meaning; while its lyrics go to political territory, dealing with the subject of immigration. You could be forgiving for preferring The White Stripes of the beginning, when punk-blues and garage rock prevailed in their sound palette, now replaced with elements of Dinosaur rock; but no one can argue Jack and Meg have kept their energy and creativity intact. And "Icky Thump" is bound to shake everybody's ears as soon as it leaks online.  shazam
