About Mannequin Lung
Other than acting as a producer with his project Mannequin Lung, Allen Avanessian also co-runs the well-respected and diverse record label Plug Research with Joe Babylon. Avanessian has recorded since 1994, working under the names r.e.a.l.m and Wrench. With the atmospheric, dub-speckled house productions of Mannequin Lung, Avenessian made a name for himself outside of the Plug Research association. In 1996, he released the 12" "Rigoletto" and contributed to a Plug Research compilation, working with John Tejada. In 1998, he released the full-length album The Art of Travel, the first full-length from the artist on the Los Angeles-based label. Though most of the tracks were pure Avanessian productions, Babylon and Tejada (using the name Mr.Hazeltine) also contributed time to the album. ~ Diana Potts, All Music Guide

Beat Control Tilly And The Wall |
| "O",The third offering from Omaha's indie darlings, left a bitter taste in our mouths while passing completely unnoticed thanks to a lacklustre collection of rather dull tunes. Luckily for the tap-dancing five-piece, they kept an ace up their sleeves and it's about to become an unexpected hit as the Radio 1 has playlisted it. "Beat Control" was originally released as a very limited edition 7" single, in between albums, and it was not meant to be included in "O". Hailed as a shift towards dance-pop, with some discreet electronic touches, it showed a welcomed new direction for the band, away from their habitual folky-pop. Many would have preferred them following that path. Better late than never, if this track confirms its potential it could become the cornestone of Tilly & The wall's future. | |
