About Yoomiii
German pop group Yoomiii hit the ground running in spring of 2006. Kristin Siegel, Nina Alexandra Filipp, and Bouchra Nisha Tjon Pon Fong were signed by the Na Klar label, under BMG Berlin. The young ladies were thrown headlong into a rigorous schedule of photo shoots, TV appearances, choreography training, and countless interviews with the German teen-oriented press. Pop star boot camp not only prepped the young performers for the market, but vice versa as well. By the time their first single, "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme," hit the airwaves, European youth were already quite familiar with the name Yoomiii. The song debuted on May 6, 2006, at number 14 in Germany, and in the Top Five on Austrian and Swiss charts. The subsequent record release received a similar reception. Here We Are landed in the Top 20 nationally, faring even better abroad. The ladies' follow-up single, "A Kiss Is All I Miss," spent several weeks in the Top 50. Yoomiii rounded out 2006 with a national tour and the release of their first DVD, and kicked off 2007 with their hit single "Rhythm of Love," whetting appetites throughout the pop-loving world for their sophomore effort, Let the Music Play, which was released May 5, 2007. ~ Evan C. Beat Control Tilly And The Wall |
| "O",The third offering from Omaha's indie darlings, left a bitter taste in our mouths while passing completely unnoticed thanks to a lacklustre collection of rather dull tunes. Luckily for the tap-dancing five-piece, they kept an ace up their sleeves and it's about to become an unexpected hit as the Radio 1 has playlisted it. "Beat Control" was originally released as a very limited edition 7" single, in between albums, and it was not meant to be included in "O". Hailed as a shift towards dance-pop, with some discreet electronic touches, it showed a welcomed new direction for the band, away from their habitual folky-pop. Many would have preferred them following that path. Better late than never, if this track confirms its potential it could become the cornestone of Tilly & The wall's future. | |
