About Angelic
The most accessible of all of Judge Jules and Darren Tate's aliases, Angelic concentrates on stiff kick drums and a pop song structure to offer a foundation for Amanda O'Riordan's emotionally fueled vocal work. O'Riordan, once a graphic designer, began working with Jules and Tate after marrying the former, offering trance producers new vocal lines instead of forcing them to follow cliché and lift from old soul records. The results were projects like Angelic, unapologetic dance-pop somewhere between Sarah McLachlan, St. Etienne, and Tall Paul. Singles "It's My Turn," "Can't Keep Me Silent," and "Stay With Me" scored incredible chart attention in 2000 and 2001, but the budding trio suffered from growing derision from dance club tastemakers with each release. ~ Dean Carlson, All Music Guide

Beat Control Tilly And The Wall |
| "O",The third offering from Omaha's indie darlings, left a bitter taste in our mouths while passing completely unnoticed thanks to a lacklustre collection of rather dull tunes. Luckily for the tap-dancing five-piece, they kept an ace up their sleeves and it's about to become an unexpected hit as the Radio 1 has playlisted it. "Beat Control" was originally released as a very limited edition 7" single, in between albums, and it was not meant to be included in "O". Hailed as a shift towards dance-pop, with some discreet electronic touches, it showed a welcomed new direction for the band, away from their habitual folky-pop. Many would have preferred them following that path. Better late than never, if this track confirms its potential it could become the cornestone of Tilly & The wall's future. | |
