Angel

Angel is a pan-European supergroup of sorts featuring ex-Lake of Tears and Imperia siren Helena Iren Michaelsen, backed by henchmen Jan "Orkki" Yrlund (guitar and programming, ex-Lacrimosa), John Stam (guitar), Gerry Verstreken (bass), Steve Wolz (drums), and Audun Gronnestad (orchestrations). Following a one-off single called "Don't Wanna Run," Michaelsen decided to give voice to her innermost thoughts and oldest song ideas (some dating back to her teens) by way of Angel's first album, A Woman's Diary: Chapter One -- a conceptually unified collection of accessible hard rock and heavy metal, laced with gothic and symphonic nuances similar to Epica and Nightwish. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
