Together In Electric Dreams Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder |
| Two pioneers of electronic music met head to head to produce a chart pleasing synth pop ditty which allegedly took ten minutes to record and became a worldwide hit. Georgio Moroder is an Italian writer and producer who took to synthesisers before they became fashionable and has been hugely influential, producing such early electronic classics as Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' and 'Love To Love You Baby'. He has worked with pretty much everybody on the planet from Elton John and David Bowie to Limahl, Liza Minnelli and Sigue Sigue Sputnik, as well as on the soundtrack of films such as Flashdance; Midnight Express and Scarface. Oakey is better known as the lead singer of Human League, who themselves have influenced many of those active in dance music today. They got together for one album, the imaginatively titled 'Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder' and wrote the single for the soundtrack of the film 'Electric Dreams', which promptly sank without trace. The single however, did very well - it's a pleasant Human League style pop track and will appeal to anyone who has some fond memories of the eighties. ~Martin Gadgil.
