Users will not only be able to find out about new tracks through mobile music recognition, precisely at the moment they are heard, but can now continue to purchase, manage and engage with like-minded listeners online, through Shazam's Ultimate Music Discovery Engine (www.shazam.com) giving access to over 3.2 million songs.
The enhanced proposition offers the ability for users to capture and purchase multiple formats of music including ringtones, full track downloads and CDs, all through their mobile phone. This heralds the arrival of an integrated transaction-based music gateway, which gives consumers a new freedom and independence in the way music is enjoyed.
Shazam's portal offers a wide range of products from different vendors including i-Tunes, TuneTribe, Kelkoo and Amazon to combine full track downloads, CDs and music recognition for the first time, through its Music Discovery Engine. Providing choice through a range of vendors ensures that consumers find the best price for a range of music related products. Additionally it creates a new revenue channel for vendors integrated into the Shazam service.
Through the new portal, music fans can share profiles and preferences and transact in both the mobile and web spaces. The mobile offers a channel to facilitate immediacy in purchasing, with the online portal supporting enhanced browsing capabilities.
The new service will initially be available to consumers on all mobile networks in the UK by simply dialling the shortcode 2580.
