SHAZAM

After the obligatory shout out to his own record label, high pitched songster Akon hands over the reins to Snoop Dogg who launches into a flowing delivery about the usual topics - how much strippers love him, how much money he's got and so on. Akon pops back up for the chorus and his verse - his voice providing a good contrast to Snoop's laconic style. The backing track is fairly simple, some 808 kicks with a handclap pattern and a couple of synth marimba type lines. It's not a bad tune but one gets the feeling Akon can probably knock out two or three tracks like this before breakfast. Originally destined to be a duet with rapper Plies, the Snoop version became the official release after Plies was part of an altercation that involved his entourage shooting a few people. The track is included on both Akon's 'Konvicted' and Snoop's 'The Blue Carpet Treatment' albums and hit the top of the charts for both artists.
