Ayo Technology: 2-Track
You can't really accuse Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson III of not keeping it real. His life story reads exactly like the account of someone who was trying to make up a life story about being a gangster rapper. His cocaine dealer mother was murdered, he sold drugs on the street before being shot nine times and surviving, only to link up with legendary Run DMC DJ Jam Master Jay (himself later murdered) and release a single called 'How to Rob' before becoming one of the biggest rap stars of his generation. 'Ayo Technology' was released as the fourth single from Jackson's third album, 2007's 'Curtis', which despite shifting several million copies still paled into significance compared to his monster debut the multi-platinum 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin''. Produced by Justin Timberlake the track is based around a melody from an 8-bit synthesiser which gives it its distinctive sound. It's a fairly downbeat yet melodic outing with Fiddy and JT swapping verse and chorus in an ode to the power of love over technology.
