About Strike
Wanting to bring back the reminiscing sounds of early '77 brit-punk while incorporating reggae and mod influences in their base of operations of Minneapolis, Minnesota , brothers Chad (guitar/vocals) and Chris (drums) Anderson created The Strike in 1993. Preaching the word of red politics, organized union labors and their love for Vespa scooters, the brothers were soon joined by bassist Kris Adams and second guitarist Micah Garlich-Miller. Gaining a following throughout the Mid-West as a four piece, it wasn't long before Chicago based Johanns Face Records released their first single "Danger / Take Action" in 1995. Not only did this single define The Strike's sound of early '77 Brit-punk and heavy mod influences such as the Jam, but it also brewed up underground recognition and critical acclaim. After a split single and short east coast tour with the Dillinger Four, 1996 saw the release of their debut full length once again on Johann's Face entitled "A Conscience Left to Struggle with Pockets Full of Rust." Continuing on with a tight, brigade rhythm in their sound and an anthem that cries the rights of our struggling working class, The Strike called off their shot which was heard around the world. Relocating to Chicago as a three piece in 1997 (Micah remained in Minnesota), Chad, Chris and Kris settled in comfortably in their new location by playing regularly in bars, clubs and scooter rallies all throughout the Windy City. Victory Records released the Strike's second full-length "Shots Heard 'Round the World" in 1999 with the same intentions, politics and style of their preceding material. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
