Shazam Announces New Global Partnership with Alcatel Mobile Phones

LONDON, UK – 18 November 2010 – Shazam®, the world’s leading mobile discovery provider, has today announced a new global partnership with handset manufacturer TCT Mobile. Under the partnership, Shazam’s free Android application will be pre-loaded onto all ALCATEL Android handsets.

More than 75 million music lovers all over the world are already using Shazam to discover new songs, artists and concert information.  Now ALCATEL users will also have access to Shazam’s database of over eight million tracks to discover, buy and share music in more ways than ever before. The partnership is initially being rolled-out in the UK, France, Italy, Guatemala, Mexico and New Zealand, with other countries following shortly.

Shazam Android App users have the option to place a Shazam widget on their ALCATEL mobile device’s home screen to immediately begin tagging a song without having to first open the Shazam App. When the ‘Tag Now’ widget icon is touched, the App starts listening, ready to tag a song and provide information about the artist and track.

Additionally, Shazamers using the widget will have access to a global, real-time Shazam Tag Stream, tracking what other Shazamers are tagging around the world. Tapping on the album artwork adds it to the users’ own Tag List, delivering information about the artist and song.

Other Shazam Android App features include the ability to:

• Discover popular artists in specific regions with local chart information.

• Read track and album reviews, view song lyrics, artist biographies and discographies.

• Find local and international tour dates for tagged artists and buy tickets to the concert.

• View YouTube videos for tagged artists from within the App.

• Access the Shazam Blog – updated daily to bring the latest music news, reviews and events from groundbreaking artists to mainstream acts.

• Share music discoveries by Tweeting a Tag, posting track details to FaceBook, or sending a text or email to friends.
