Since 2004 Cascada has been happily peddling their own brand of frivolous Euro-dance-pop; scoring European hits and even experiencing some success in the usually R&B/ Rock loving USA. However on their latest single Cascada eschew the four to the floor formula, featured in tracks like 'Everytime We Touch', in favour of Lady Gaga-esque electro-pop. This is a little odd when you consider Cascada has developed a loyal following with their own sound. However, 'Just Dance' sound-a-likes seem to be all the rage at the moment and an A list placement on Radio 1 would suggest the public are yet to tire of the ubiquitous RedOne production style - featured on hits from Gaga, Akon, Sean Kingston and Enrique Iglesias in recent months.
The song is a fairly straight forward affair. Cascada vocalist Natalie Holder belts out a plea to ‘Evacuate The Dancefloor’ because she's 'Infected By The Sound' while a synthetic string filled electro beat chugs away. The record also features a rap that sounds as though it was created by someone involved in a 'The Fly' style transmogrification accident with Flo Rida and Snap!. This is not a good thing. However, the record still retains a sense of fun and is likely to be lapped up in the clubs, where post Back Eyed Peas 'Boom Boom Pow', commercial dance and R&B occupy almost the same territory. Remixes come from the likes of Ultrabeat, The Wideboys and Cahill – showing that Cascada still has love for their fans who may like a 'donk' on it every now and again.~Stephen Titmus~ Copyright © Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009.
