Mid 2010 was looking like crunch time for The Saturdays. They had two albums under their belts and had risen in popularity accordingly. 2008's 'Chasing Lights' established them as a band with enough talent to make it to the big time, but the follow-up 'Wordshaker' didn't quite deliver as much as was hoped and only spawned two singles. However the competition were also looking shaky - Girls Aloud were on what was increasingly looking like a permanent break and The Sugababes had suffered from their incessant in-fighting, their 'Sweet 7' album under-performing. With no other real threats on the horizon the timing was perfect for The Saturdays to make their move to become the UK's top girl group, and 'Missing You' was their weapon of choice. As the first single from their album 'Headlines' there was a lot riding on the track and fortunately it delivered. Frankie Sandford starts on lead vocals, and although given a severe Auto-Tuning in the first verse, turns in a decent performance on what turns into an anthemic, plush-sounding techno ballad - just what the doctor ordered.
