Shazam's Review

Within Incubus's third album,1999's 'Make Yourself', there are some huge songs that showcase the slap bass fuelled mix between funk, pop and rock beats perfectly. 'Drive' is a shining example of this and although it contains a more stripped down to the bare-bones sound, it still oozes rock hooks throughout. This acoustic piece could be considered the pinnacle of the album, with its relaxing tones and well-grounded lyrics, along with the ever-soothing vocals from frontman Brandon Boyd seeing the song through. Pure mellow ambience, a catchy chorus and harmonizing guitars are what make the track stand out from the rest. Arguably, the world was introduced to Incubus through this track alone and, due to its success, it has become one of the biggest tunes of the band's career. 'Drive' borders on the simplistic, yet still holds some inspiring melodies that fans worldwide have come to love. ~ Amy Parker. Copyright (c) Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009.
