Once managed (along with a pre-record contract Lily Allen) by TV presenter George Lamb, Audio Bullys scored a top ten single with their 2005 single 'Shot You Down'. Something of a departure from their UK urban roots, the track lifts large chunks from Nancy (Frank's daughter) Sinatra's 1966 track 'Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)' which itself was a cover of a Cher song written by Sonny Bono. The band's earlier album 'Ego War' had received favourable reviews and generated a brace of top thirty singles, but 'Shot You Down' eclipsed their previous efforts, climbing to number three in the Singles Charts and going top twenty in Australia. The single switches between Sinatra's original ethereal vocals and a funky electronic backing, giving a somewhat schizophrenic feel until vocal snippets are mixed in with the beats and various other sound samples give way to a polished house banger.
