Taken from the ambitious double album "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness", this song is a ferocious example of why the Pumpkins were one of the greatest bands to emerge in the Nineties. Led by the enigmatic Billy Corgan, the band rose to fame off the back of extensive touring and Corgan’s military style leadership of the band. During recording sessions for Mellon Collie, he allegedly inspired tension within the band by forcing ex-partners, guitarist James Iha & bassist D'arcy Wretzky, to record in a room away from himself and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Despite internal differences the band managed to hold things together for the release of the album and the subsequent singles. Bullet With Butterfly Wings is, with no question of doubt, one of the stand out tracks from the bands back catalogue. Showcasing Corgan's distinctive voice, guitar lines and Chamberlin's work horse drums.
