If you were going to make up a fantasy timeline of how to become a world famous guitarist, you'd probably be describing the real life achievements of 24 year old Aussie Orianthi Panagris. After learning guitar at school her first support show was for Steve Vai at the tender age of 15. At 18 she jammed on stage with Carlos Santana before going onto play with Prince and various American Idol contestants. In 2009 she was picked by Michael Jackson to be his lead guitarist on the 'This Is It' series of concerts in London. She has also released two solo albums on Geffen Records, 2007's 'Violet Journey' and 2009's 'Believe', which showed the potential to herald the start of a long and successful career. Lead solo shredding seems to be an almost exclusively male area, so it's great to see someone like Orianthi showing that doesn't have to be the case.
