Shazam's Review

How does a DJ fill the dance floor of a disco in seconds? Wack on a copy of 'Take On Me' by A-Ha and every man and his dog will be up there. This synth-pop number featured on the group's debut album 'Hunting High And Low' in 1985. Its popularity was initially helped by its award-winning music video that incorporated both animation and live action. Even so it took the Norwegians to release the track three times in the UK before punters finally agreed to give in and make it the hit it truly deserves to be. Its merits lie in lead singer Morten Harket's crescendo vocal-style that reach elated falsetto highs before starting over. A combination of synths along with acoustic guitars and keyboards also lends it a dynamic touch. 'Take On Me' is a fun record through-and-through, which doesn't pretend to be any different, and for that both the track and A-Ha should be applauded. ~ Will Stone.
