Spider Murphy Gang

, Dieter Radig & Sportfreunde Stiller

German rock & roll revivalists Spider Murphy Gang took their name from Elvis Presley's fictional saxophone player in the song "Jailhouse Rock." The Munich-based collective's rootsy, bar band sound did surprisingly well amidst the early-'80s German new wave scene, scoring Top Ten hits with "Skandal im Sperrbezirk" and "Schui Tog." The band endured numerous lineup changes in the '90s, but continues to tour and record well into the 21st century. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
