Another fresh songstress coming our way; this Aussie ex-TV actress did not quite follow the steps of Kylie, instead she joined the indie ambient act Decoder Ring, with whom she went to soundtrack the cult movie "Somersault"; after that Lenka moved to California searching for greener pastures and a solo career. In her debut album she crafts deceptively simple pop tunes and delivers them with the quirky vocal style of an eternal teenager. Like other recent favourites such as Yael Naim, it has just the right upbeat tone to make it apt for synchronization in all sorts of commercials and TV series; recently both "Ugly Betty" and "Grey's Anatomy" featured "The Show" in correspondent episodes, which in return have taken Lenka's career towards the first stages of popularity. "The Show" has a feel good melody, laced with plonking piano; a touch of brass and orchestral arrangements that lighten her dealing with romantic confusion and vital ups and downs.
