It took nearly a year for Lady Gaga's first single, 'Let's Dance', to climb its way up the charts; but once hitting top spot, it solidly established Gaga's DIY kitsch glamour as a media fixture - placing the singer's ambition for stardom in it's natural element. 'Paparazzi', unlike Gaga's previous singles, is a mellower affair dealing with today's celebrity obsession through a dark fan turned stalker story. As with all of the tracks from her debut album 'The Fame', Gaga doesn't steer too far from the '80's synth pop and electro influences that helped her first break through the public consciousness. Although a more downtempo affair, and with none of the stick-in-your-brains appeal of her former hits, Paparazzi enjoyed huge success throughout the year of its release and was an important piece in the puzzle that crowned Lady Gaga the pop princess of 2009. ~Stephen Titmus~ Copyright (c) Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009. Her debut album 'The Fame' is the year's top selling record. Having already spawned two number one singles, it is still packed with potential replacements. The first of them, 'Paparazzi', is a mellower affair, rich as usual in eighties influences and dealing with today's celebrity obsession through a darkish fan turned stalker story.
