Shazam's Review

Social commentary doesn't always work well in a musical format. The message the song is trying to put across can be totally overshadowed, or vice versa. However, it seems Lily Allen has mastered the art, with a large proportion of the songs on her second album 'It's Not Me, It's You' commenting on some facet of our society. One of the album's highlights is 'The Fear', which served as the album's lead single and Lily's second UK Number 1. The track introduced us to the more electronic sound Lily explored on her second album, as opposed to the jazzy, reggae influenced musical theme of 'Alright, Still'. Having said that, Ms. Allen maintained her knack for clever, witty lyrics, with lines such as 'I'm not a saint, but I'm not a sinner/And everything's cool as long as I'm getting thinner' winning Lily new fans the world over.
