Although it doesn't seem such a good idea to sample an iconic rock classic and leave it as the only backing beat for a new artist' first song; in this case, the immortal opening bass line, claps and refreshing 'aaahs' from "Time of the season" by psychedelic legends The Zombies nicely highlight Melanie Fiona's vocal strengths. The latest addition to Motown Records' soulful roaster benefits by this unusual choice of sample and the contrast between oldie Brit vibe from the sixties and contemporary R&B, leaving a powerful impression from the first listening. The Canadian artist of Guyanese background introduces her first opus “The Bridge” with what truly looks like a potential smash.
