They may look like the newest kids in the block, but this Aussie duo benefits from the well-travelled talents of The Sleepy Jackson's Luke Steele and Pnau's Nick Littlemore, joining forces to combine their respective bands' legacy: Dave Friedman-like, lush psychedelia colliding against a wide spectrum of dance influences, delivered in the shape of simple synthpop nuggets that could have been topping the charts anytime during the 80s. Empire of the Sun, named after a book written by J.G. Ballard and adapted to the big screen by Spielberg, was included among the ones to watch in 2009 by both BBC and Shazam's music forecasts, thanks to pure pop tunes such as "Walking on a dream," one of those radio friendly tracks that get stuck in your brain just after a few listenings.
