Elbow prove with 'One Day Like This' that it's definitely possible to mix intelligent lyrics with wonderfully textured musical journeys. This song takes you on a floating journey through your curtains into the bright morning sunshine, proceeds to grab you by the hand and take you into an orchestral tale of epic proportions. Their fourth album 'The Seldom Seen Kid' has pushed them into the mainstream music scene after peering around the door for many years. The critical acclaim is richly justified and this particularly anthem-esque track will no doubt be sung by hundreds of reveller's in various festivals over the summer and not just because it is a song full of intensity, it also finds that hook in the back of the head and doesn't let go. 'One Day Like This' is a graceful, stunning example of great song writing and although Elbow usually shine by picking out the smallest details of life, love and loss, this song will live on for many, many years to come and deservedly so. ~Dan Bullock.
