Let's get this straight, this record is simply ridiculous. So ridiculous in fact, that the natural reaction on first hearing it is likely to be one of draw dropping disbelief. "Is that actually Eiffel 65 I can hear on the radio?!" Flo Rida's latest offering manages to top his recent hook-up with gender bending, 80's pop icon Pete Burns in the camp stakes by merging the Hi-NRG Euro-beat of Eiffel 65's 'Blue' with some sugary, lady-loving rap. This unlikely merging of Italian electro-cheese and Miami booty bass is liable to get fans of Hip Hop, Dance and even painful 90's novelty records screaming sacrilege; but let's not forget Flo Rida has a habit of turning absurd concepts into hit records. His breakthrough single and first Billboard number 1, 'Low', was essentially a three minute product placement for Reebok and Apple Bottom jeans while his last single, the Dead Or Alive sampling 'Right Round', became the fastest selling download of all time. Whether or not Flo Rida can repeat the success of his previous singles on this track remains to be seen but what is obvious is that he has a loyal download buying fan-base that should see this record go at least top 10 in most countries. The only question that remains now is where can we go from here? Nas covering the Venga Boys? KRS-One sampling the Macarena?
