Shazam's Review

The jaunty intro of Billy Joel's "Sleeping with the television on", from his 1980 new wave album “Glass Houses”, serves as base for this track put together by Simon Neil, a member of Biffy Clyro, and JP Reid of Sucioperro; who disguised as some masked, high hat wearing characters under the aliases of The Atmosphere and The Dragon, formed Marmaduke Duke as a side project. Rescuers of Concept Rock, a not so great idea rooted in the Seventies close to the decade's prog movement, the duo planned a trilogy of conceptual albums. The first one "The Magnificent Duke" was released years ago to general indifference; but the second of the trilogy looks like is running a very different fate. "Duke Pandemonium" represents a turn towards hedonism, decadence and dance. "Rubber Lover" is the highlight. Already a radio hit in the UK, its light, feel good vibe is likely to appeal to pop-rock lovers of all ages and carry on as a favourite until well entered the summer. ~Roberto González~ Copyright © Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009.
