Shazam's Review

The most entertaining thing about this song is, in fact, the video. It's an uber-camp maelstrom of tacky 70's dance routines, wigs and roller skates dotted with naff retro memorabilia (spot the Campari glass!). It was originally a ballad on their second album, but it has been given a kitsch, disco makeover, spliced in the middle by the strings and main elements of Gloria Gaynor's seminal hit 'I Will Survive'. The chorus itself isn't too bad, quite catchy actually; but in the record company's efforts to promote Nicole over the other band members, the plot seems to have been lost somewhere along the line and the memory of this track fades soon after listening. It's certainly no 'Don't Cha', 'When I Grow Up' or 'Jai Ho!' - all modern classics in their own right. One's opinion sinks even lower when you hear that Ms. Scherzinger actually did the lead vocals AND most of the background singing too. Come on the rest of you Dolls, let's hear you roar!! Having said all that, on the plus side "Hush Hush" it's dancy, fairly catchy and fun, but on the musical side it's ultimately underwhelming. S.Ayling. Copyright © Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009.
