Shazam's Review

After reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in their eleven year career with 'Boom Boom Pow', The Black Eyed Peas seemed to become addicted to the experience. Not only did 'Boom Boom Pow' remain atop the US charts for a record twelve weeks, but the song that's replaced it was 'I Gotta Feeling' ; the second single from the band's fifth album "The E.N.D.(Energy Never Dies)". Popular French DJ David Guetta, as well as popping up in the video alongside Kid Cudi, provided production duties on the track; helping to expand B.E.P.'s traditional blend of ber-commercial RnB with some eurodance touches. Black Eyed Peas diversion into dance music not only reinvigorated chart friendly R&B but also kicked off a fruitful cross over between house DJ's and urban artists that would see electro/rap dominate the charts for most of 2009. With a trance style euphoric melody and the line "I Gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night", 'I Gotta Feeling' became the anthem for many a big night throughout the summer of 2009. ~Roberto González~ Copyright (c) Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009. After reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in eleven years of career with the adrenaline-boosting, electro-tinged "Boom Boom Pow" the Black Eyed Peas seem to have become addicted to the experience. Not only had they remained atop the US charts for a record twelve weeks, but the song that's replaced it is the second single from their fifth album "The E.N.D.(Energy Never Dies)". Popular French DJ David Guetta, as well as popping up in the video alongside Kid Cudi, is on production duties, helping to expand their traditional blend of über-commercial RnB with some eurodance touches; much needed fresh ingredients for a genre that was dangerously close to reach its use by date due to the use and abuse of the same tricks – i.e. the tyranny of autotune. Although a bit less in your face than the "Boom Pow" smash, in typical BEP fashion the non-stop repetition of its simplistic, yet celebratory chorus "I Gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night" make it a perfect, if slightly cheesy, warm-up anthem for the beginning of any night out. ~Roberto González~ Copyright © Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009.
