Shazam's Review

Without question, 2009 was the year that Black Eyed Peas ruled the pop world. For the majority of the year the band took residency at the top of the world's charts, first with 'Boom Boom Paw' and then with 'I Gotta Feeling'. The key to the band's success was an updating of their urban/ R&B sound mixing in a heavy dose of electro tinged Euro pop courtesy of French dance music producer extraordinaire, David Guetta. At times in 2009 the success of BEP was so extreme that they only had themselves as rivals in the charts. 'Meet Me Halfway' is the third huge hit taken from the band's album, 'The E.N.D.' The track sees Fergie's vocals, seemingly influenced by early Madonna hits, get a more dominant role than some of the group's previous offerings. Adding an 80's synth pop element into the melting pot of BEP styles, the success of 'Meet Me Halfway' proved to be the cherry on the cake for Will.i.am and company in 2009. ~Roberto González~ Copyright (c) Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009. Looking back at 2009, two months before it comes to its end, seems clear that the Black Eyed Peas have ruled the pop world. Their record stride on top of the singles charts everywhere has been unbreakable. Updating their brand of urban R&B with a touch of the most commercial electropop - tipped by Eurodance supremo David Guetta - has paid off well. It somehow feels the four-piece have no one but themselves as a rival. 'Meet Me Halfway' is the third huge hit taken from 'The E.N.D.' in which Fergie's vocals, seemingly influenced by early Madonna hits, get a more dominant role; crowning with an epically tacky chorus the other peas’ verses and aided by an 80’s synth pop vibe. Initially the track seems to lack of enough steam to make the BEP hit jackpot for the third consecutive time, but don’t discard it too soon. Very few could have thought possible for 'I Gotta Feeling' to become the most popular song of the year. ~Roberto González~ Copyright © Shazam Entertainment Limited 2009. All rights reserved.  shazam
