Shazam's Review

Jason DeRulo is a Florida born singer, songwriter, dancer and choreographer in the same vein as Usher, Chris Brown and Ne-Yo. Hype for the artist exploded with the arrival of his debut single proper, 'Whatcha Say', which gained a place as the most tagged Shazam track in the world just a few weeks after release. The record takes an unlikely sample from Imogen Heap's folktronica hit 'Hide And Seek', and bolts it to an electro pop beat not a hundred miles away from Keri Hilson's 'Knock You Down'. Like the aforementioned KanYe West produced Keri Hilson's track, Jason DeRulo's implementation of a seriously catchy chorus and of the moment electronic backing quickly made 'Whatcha Say' one of the USA's most played radio tracks. DeRulo quickly capitalized on his success by working with a raft of 'of the moment' collaborators such as Lil Wayne, Cassie and Birdman, writing an album which became one of the most eagerly anticipated of early 2010..~Stephen Titmus. With collaborations with Lil Wayne, Cassie and Birdman already completed, Jason DeRulo could be one of the most important new urban names to watch when his album eventually drops sometime late in 2009.~Stephen Titmus.
