DJ/Producer Sidney Samson established himself on the club scene in The Netherlands, landing a spot as resident at The Matrixx, one of the countries biggest dance venues. After a few successful releases he really hit the jackpot with 'Riverside' which tore up the clubs in Ibiza and translated into a Europe-wide hit, also doing well in Australia where it charted at no 8. Given that the only lyrics are the two word sample, 'riverside motherf****r' from the 1992 2Pac urban drama 'Juice', it's fair to say the main attraction of this song is the musical element. An off-beat euro bass line locks the rhythm into place with the occasional percussive interlude from rolling snares, but it's the repetitive hook that keeps the track ticking over. A deceptively simple electro-house track, it's the small variations in notes and detuning that ensure the energy levels are maintained. Definitely one get the crowd on its feet. ~Martin Gadgil.
