JLS originally became famous after finishing runners up in the 5th series of UK reality TV competition 'The X Factor'. However winning isn't always what it's cracked up to be - just ask Steve Brookstein and Leon Jackson. In many cases runners up have statistically gone on to achieve better record sales than their winning counterparts. 'Everybody in Love' is the second single from the bands eponymous debut album. Following on from the first successful single 'Beat Again', which sailed straight to number one in the UK charts. 'Everybody In Love' followed the trend and also charted at the top slot in the UK. It's an incredibly catchy song and has a great sing-a-long feel. Everybody seems to worship JLS, and why not? Coming second in a talent show is the new first, it seems. Winning can be something of a poisoned chalice - just ask Steve Brookstein -, whereas a runner-up has seemingly nothing to lose. 'Beat Again' was a great first effort, a true modern classic with a polished R&B feel, which gave the boys a deserved number one. This follow up is equally well-produced, but not in the same league. It's incredibly, but predictably, catchy. It's the kind of sing-a-long, hands-in-the-air number which would go down well live; but comes across as dull & a tiny bit lazy. The lyrics pass you by, something about being loved-up and everlastingly happy. The vocal however is the bright part of the proceedings, which each band member given a verse to showcase their abilities. The overall feeling though is that this track came out rather too quickly after the initial release. It smacks of trying to capitalise on their recent fame and the presence of the new series of X Factor on our screens. Having said that, you do get the feeling there is a certain degree of longevity with this talented foursome - they just need some careful guidance and decent melodies to play with.
