When you've had Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Jay Z and Paul Simon lining up to sing your praises you must be doing something right. Constantly featured in "Best Album Of The Year" lists for the likes of Pitchfork, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, there's no doubt that Grizzly Bear have enjoyed some influential backing. Fresh from a 2008 tour supporting Radiohead the band convened to lay down their third album 'Veckatimest' - the Native American name for an island near their recording studio - and the result was another hefty dollop of critical praise. The album shot to number eight on the Billboard Albums Chart and featured the single 'Two Weeks'. Sounding a bit like a mildly creepy version of The Beach Boys the track features a plinky piano overlaid with vocal harmonies and jaunty percussion. Definitely odd, but enjoyable too. ~Martin Gadgil.
