Barnstorming since the early ’70s, this Georgia sextet still lays down some of the heaviest funk and soul on Earth. “Angels” carries a sinewy riff from Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff” to its natural hard-rock conclusion, while feminist anthem “She Ready” sounds like Tina Turner gone metal. “Cling to the Cross” will rock the roof off any church, and the dark ballad “Another Day” addresses domestic abuse. They end with a live call-and-response medley that mixes The Rolling Stones, Steppenwolf, and their own 1981 tune “Illusion.”
